This comprehensive workshop delves into the sophisticated ceramic practice of teapot construction using traditional hand-building methods. Participants should have prior experience with hand building techniques as we'll be exploring advanced concepts of form, function, and balance. The curriculum follows a methodical approach: beginning with the critical foundation work of creating properly proportioned vessel bodies, precisely angled spouts for optimal pouring, and well-fitted lids with appropriate gallery rims. The second day focuses on the technical challenges of component assembly, addressing issues of structural integrity, joint reinforcement, and the ergonomics of handle placement. Surface treatment considerations will be addressed if time permits, including texture application, slip decoration, and glaze planning. All participants will receive guidance on proper drying protocols to prevent warping or cracking in these complex forms.

Professional glazing services are included in your registration, with finished pieces available for collection 4-12 weeks after course completion. This technical workshop is designed for those seeking to expand their ceramic repertoire with expert guidance. Glaze firing is charged at €10 per kilo.

Lunch is not included but light refreshments and some snacks will be.
